Horizon Industries
Horizon Industries, a division of East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind, is one of the largest converters of industrial wiping towels and paracord for the United States government. Our light, medium and heavy duty wiping towels are built to handle general cleaning, shop maintenance, heavy duty oil and grease cleanup as well as aircraft canopy cleaning. Our paracord is built to Mil-C-5040 specifications and is used in various military applications.
Our mission is to Empower the Blind through rehabilitation, education, training and employment.
AbilityOne Program
Horizon Industries accomplishes its mission through the AbilityOne program, a federal initiative providing employment for the blind through business relationships with the federal government.
The AbilityOne Program is one of the largest sources of employment in the United States for people who are blind or have significant disabilities. More than 400 nonprofit organizations employ these individuals and provide quality products and services to the Federal Government at a fair market price.
The Program is administered by the U.S. AbilityOne Commission, an independent Federal agency, with assistance from National Industries for the Blind (NIB) and SourceAmerica®.
The U.S. AbilityOne Commission is the operating name for the Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled.
